Friday's Fab Fortunes {2.23.18}
It's Friday and you know what that means!!! Here are this week's top five Fortunes for which I am grateful! Enjoy!
"giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ," ~ Ephesians 5:20 (NKJV)
Black History: Sidney Poitier!
In 1964, Sidney Poitier became the first Bahamian and the first black actor to win both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Poitier went on to star in and direct a number of memorable films, including one of my favorites and the original, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner". In 1974, Poitier was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. He served as the Bahamian Ambassador to Japan from 1997 to 2007. In 2009, Poitier was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, United States' highest civilian honor, by President Barack Obama. In 2016, he was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship Outstanding Lifetime Achievement. On Tuesday, February 20, Poitier celebrated his 91st birthday! Happy Birthday, Sir Poitier! #BlackHistoryMonth #SidneyPoitier
The Smell of Fresh Laundry!!
I love the smell of fresh laundry - specifically the smell of clean clothes as they tumble in the dryer. I just inhaled as I typed that, remembering the smell. mmmm. Our dryer arrived this week and trips to the wash house are now becoming a distant memory! Talk about grateful! Although it took longer to finish because I wasn't able to do multiple loads at one time, I was able to do other things while the clothes were laundering and I loved it. LT teased me, saying I was probably finding extra items to wash, simply because we now have the complete set. ha ha. #ByeWashHouse
I Still Have Joy!!
This week, two of our cars decided they wanted to visit our mechanic -- at the same time. The first blessing is that these are two of three cars! God is awesome! It is remarkable that I can remember the days when this "challenge" would have changed my whole mood. HOWEVER, as soon as I heard the news, I immediately claimed victory and was grateful that we still have another car to use while the others are unavailable. Wow..."others". GOD IS GOOD! I give God all the praise because our family still functioned as normal and we didn't miss a beat! We are blessed and I still have joy! #StillHaveJoy
Encouraged To Continue!!
Some time ago, I was led to invite someone to our church and they gladly accepted the invitation, which was confirmation that God was working behind the scenes. This week, I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email message saying they will always remember attending church with me and how much they enjoyed eating with my family, friends and me afterwards. They also mentioned that they are encouraged by my WHOAments and how much they admire me. I was taken aback. I have not been in contact with them over the past 4-5 years and we didn't have a really close relationship prior. Yet, God has blessed me to be a blessing to them, which is a reminder that people are watching us, even when we are unaware. I believe the seed deposited has a positive impact and their life is transformed as a result. God gets the glory because it is Him working through me! #ShineYourLight
Happy Birthday, Boo!!
Today is LT's Birthday! When I recount all the ways my life has positively changed and been enhanced since he has been in it...WHEW! We started off as a friends and now we are Covenant Partners doing life together. He is THE most amazing man I know. His love of Christ, handsomeness, realness, sense of worth, kindness, selflessness, charm, sense of humor, swag, intelligence, honesty, integrity, meekness and support of all [righteous] TC related things are just a few of the reasons I fell in love with him and why I remain giddy and in love with him today and forever more. Today is his day and I wish him the happiest of happy birthdays! Honey, may you continue to enjoy life as God intended and all the blessings that come along. I am excited to see how the blessings flow this year and beyond! I love you so much, Babe! #HappyBirthdayLT
