I See You!

Do you ever have days that don't start quite the way you planned? Perhaps it is because your mood is "off". Or maybe you just have a case of the "blahs". Maybe you're experiencing overwhelming thoughts that seem to bring a bit of melancholy. I'm sure someone out there can relate to this.

I hate to admit it, but today began as one of those days. It seemed that doubts and negative thoughts were trying to lead me down a path of insecurity, which ultimately could affect my whole day-- especially because I spend most of the day alone and in my thoughts.

I had too many things to do today to allow myself the opportunity to waddle and let my thoughts get the best of me. Instead, I headed to my office to write today's WHOAment. I had an idea of what I was going to write about, but once I opened my computer and sat down to type it, Holy Spirit led me in a totally different direction.

He sent this little guy to remind me that my thoughts are not His.

This little bird kept coming to my window...like every two minutes. At first, I thought it was because I placed my water bottle in the window and he was trying to get to the water inside.

But when I tested my theory by removing the bottle, he still returned! He would pose long enough for me to take pictures and then flutter away. And seconds later, he would return again.

So of course, I had to do my research to find out what kind of bird he is. When I did, I knew God sent him to relay a message and to give me a reminder. This tiny bird (which is now pecking on my window and singing) is a Sparrow (House Finch). As I stared at the bird in awe, it clicked:

If God cares for this little, tiny bird, how much more does He care for me? He sent this tiny bird as a reminder that when I am experiencing challenges, I can rest under God's wings, taking refuge from all my cares!

God is always on time! He knows exactly what we need and when we need it! With gratefulness and repentance, I am rejoicing because when I praise God for His goodness, all my insecurities, doubts, fears and whatever other ill-emotion I am tempted to allow in, can not stay! When you praise and thank God for His goodness and declare His Word over yourself (out loud so you can hear the words), you can't stay in a funk. Become intentional about focusing on positive things and all the good in your life and your mood will change.

Try it!

P.S. - I think I am going to name this bird because he is still at my window... two hours later!

Selah!
